The conditions of human life have not only been changed, but revolutionized, within the past few hundred years. In former days there was little difference between the swelling, dress, food, and environment of the chief and those of his retainers. The Indians are to-day where civilized man then was.

A riqueza se acumulou e se tornou possível que alguns se dedicassem a tarefas especializadas, em vez de todos caçarem e colherem.
Tornou-se também possível que cada um se destacasse segundo seu esforço e suas habilidades, em lugar do compartilhamento das tribos nômades primitivas.
Ou seja, surgiu a desigualdade. E isto não é um mal, é uma consequência de sermos diferentes.
