ZETA 1.0 goes golden!
09. June 2005
While we had initially planned to release ZETA 1.0 at the beginning of May, we then decided to delay the release. We did this in order to make some major changes and additions so that we could be absolutely certain to release a ZETA truly worthy of the name 1.0.
Since CeBIT in March, we have made over than 2,300 changes to ZETA throughout the system including important improvements to the kernel and drivers further improving hardware support (SiS chipsets, WLAN) but also to include a completely new printing system. ZETA users no longer have to rely on legacy or compatibility modes when printing with modern printers but will be using up to date and fully featured drivers. The new Partition Manager from Paragon Software now allows ZETA users to dynamically resize partitions during the install process.
A great many minor errors have also been fixed to make ZETA faster and more stable. We've worked hard with our translators to localise as much of ZETA in as many languages as possible including the Partition Manager and the Firefox browser which is now up to version 1.0.3. We've added support for the popular iPod players with the BeBop application and are including our very own Video Editor for home movie enthusiasts. We will posting a separate article on Video Editor shortly.
We now feel confident in delivering the Golden Master to our production company. This means that ZETA 1.0 will be in the shops in about two weeks time and our resellers are now accepting orders for this.
