Well, there's been plenty of time for  everyone to do the post-mortems.

What is the consensus of opinion in Brazil on why the national team did not advance beyond the Quarter-finals?

- Parreira is a bad coach.
- The players were thinking only about themselves, about their personal records; they didn't improve the team work.
- The players got bribed (conspiracy theory).

brazil didn't play with will, as did italy or germany. maybe because of the favouritism..

Maybe Brazil wasnt the dream team we all though theyll be.

Big hopes were on Ronaldinho, but he actually never proved to be an important player.
He is a good player.
An acrobat.
Maybe a good circus performer with the ball.
But he hasnt yet proved that he can take control of a team as Maradona or Pele did.

We were hoping to see him climb into the ollympus, but i think we overestimeted him.

If you analize Brazil thru time, you will realized that before the two championships and the final in 98, Brazil spend something like 20 years without being champions.
The 1995 was an easy tournament for Brazil and Italy and they won only after the penalty kicks.
1998 was a more hard tournament and they didnt made it.
The 2002 was maybe one of the worst tournaments and Brazil made it only after an error by Kahn.

So maybe Brazil wasnt that big a team after all.

I guess we all overrated Brazil.

I wonder how come a national beer brand did not take the opportunity to make an ad saying that the "magic square" surely couldn't go round

I suppose it does not make much sense in english, but for brazilians it would be funny
