Apontei para o "Sie" porque é um pronome formal, equivale mais a "o senhor" do que "você". Em geral, se a pessoa está em pé de igualdade (não é chefe ou similar) e o ambiente é informal, usa-se "du".

Now I understand why germans, when they are trying to speak portuguese, have troubles with gender. Same thing occurs with us trying to speak german.

And funny how, just by learning the verb To Be of other language, enable us to "almost organize" the mess that is a phrase of the unknown language.

You'd have a hard time with Russian then... while there is a "to be" equivalent (быть/byt'), it's rarely used on the present tense. "House red" might sound weird for PT/DE/EN speakers, but it fine Russian.

(Man, I really miss studying Russian. A shame I've bit more than I can chew already with German and Italian...)

When I wrote that about the to be verb, I was thinking in this post. I thought it was weird how we can locate ourselves in a phrase of an unknown language with the verb to be.

Ich habe viel Deutsch in meiner Kinderheit gelerhnt, heutezutage sprech Ich gar nichts, weil Ich in meiner Arbeit nür English und Portugisisch benutze.

Ich konnte nür das Batatten Deutsh, dass hier in Santa Catarina viel gesprochen ist.

Beispiel für das Batatten Deusch:

But, in fact, I did not understand anything of this. Now I know that he learned a lot of german in his Kinderheit (kinder = children, so in the kindergarden???), the order of the phrase is not a mistery (not too much) anymore. Habe gelernt is a understandable construction. The nominative, accusative, dative and the genitive are not that hard. The problem, so far, are the genders.

I am really enjoying learning german.

Sì, anche l'italiano è informale: leggendo testi in internet con Google Translate aperto, traducendo canzoni, utilizzando le robe elettroniche in la lingua... studiare studiare non studio, ma è bello come la comprensione reciproca tra lingue romanze aiuta molto.

Auf der anderen Seite studiere ich Deutsch in der Universität mit Lehnern und Lehrbüchern und Dingen so. Ich sollte besser in der Sprache sein, aber ich bin etwas wie ein Faultier, um erlich zu sein.

[Yup, but I'm approaching Italian in an informal way: reading texts on the net with Google Translate open, translating songs, using electronic stuff in the lang... I don't "study" it properly, but it's nice how the mutual intelligibility between Romance langs helps a lot.

On the other hand I study German in the uni with teachers and textbooks and stuff like this. I should be better on the language, but I'm kinda a sloth to be honest.]

German is specially nice after you already got the hang of the "weird" (for Romance standards) grammar rules, then it's just a matter of amassing vocab and going overboard with the Compoundwordweirdness.

Genders are mostly memorization and paying attention to the articles and adjectives; the basic concept on how to use them is already ingrained because of Portuguese, then it's just a matter of remembering stuff like a "Sonne" is feminine, a "Mond" is masculine and a Mädchen is neuter. Flashcards help for some, but it isn't that huge of a deal - like, if someone said "a relógio está no parede errado" you get the meaning anyway, right?

Kindheit=childhood; Kindergarten is the same as in English.

Warum haben wir English und Italienisch in die section. Das ist sehr Offensive. Ich habe deutsch studiere für drei Jahre. Aber ich kann nicht Deutsch sprechen einfach, weil Englisch sprechen möchten die Leute, und nicht Deutsch!
