http://www.selfempowermentacademy.com.au/media5.htmPRESS RELEASE - 60 Minutes Interview & 7 Day Challenge
from Jasmuheen - 25th October 1999
Regarding the incorrect headline in the Brisbane Courier Mail 25th October 1999 "Seven Day Fast Fails!" page 5, again the Courier Mail did not bother to ring me to check this, so read on for the facts!
Firstly go to the 60 Minutes website where 68% of 1596 people voted YES to the question “Do you believe a person could live for six months on nothing but air and light?” they are at
http://sixtyminutes.ninemsn.com.au/news/23404.asp This amazing data and response by the Australian public since Jasmuheen never claims to just live on light and air, but rather she is nourished by the Divine One Within all humankind. She drinks water (and tea for flavour) to flush the pollutants from her body, since she chooses to live in, and travel through the cities of the world, rather than live in the Himalayas where this may not be as necessary.
1. 60 MINUTES WITHDREW FROM THE CHALLENGE NOT JASMUHEEN....
60 Minutes decided to not continue the Challenge with Jasmuheen as she entered day 5 of the 7 days, on the advice of the attending Doctor, Dr Wenck. As Dr Wenck had not read Jasmuheen’s in-depth research into this matter, the doctor became most concerned by Jasmuheen’s weight loss and slight dehydration as would any doctor who was unfamiliar with the last 7 years of research into this matter. As Jasmuheen told 60 Minutes before they began, it was imperative that they read the book detailing her research on this, so that they could be well informed as to the changes that would occur within Jasmuheen’s system and not panic. Desite this, the producer, Richard Carleton and Dr Wenck admitted to Jasmuheen that they had not read this literature and hence, when they found themselves in what they felt was a potentially dangerous situation, and they ‘pulled the plug’ even though Jasmuheen was happy and able to safely continue.
As Jasmuheen said in her letter to the Sixty Minutes Producer that she emailed on the 22nd October, after they withdrew “If either Richard Carleton, yourself or your attending doctor had spent 28 years of your life researching and recording dietary, exercise and meditation matters, including seven of these years in a highly specialized field, which allowed you to find and prove a solution to world health and world hunger problems, and if you were being questioned or interviewed, surely you would expect the interviewer to be familiar with your material if it had been produced in book form? For none of you to have read my research (on your own admission) is incomprehensible as far as serious journalism goes.”
2. AS NEITHER 60 MINUTES OR THE ATTENDING DOCTOR, HAD READ THE RESEARCH MATERIAL PROVIDED, THEY LACKED THE REQUIRED UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT WOULD OCCUR AND HOW TO SET UP THE CORRECT CONDITIONS ...
60 Minutes were advised from day 1 by Jasmuheen, that if conditions were stressful, it would be normal for her to lose up to 1 kilo per day particularly when she was being sleep deprived as well (which was what occurred, for reasons known only to 60 Minutes). Over the 4 days and nights Jasmuheen managed to get only 3 to 4 hours sleep in total as she was continually woken by security guards checking her belongings, cigarette smoke steaming into her room, loud voices as the ‘team’ came and went and other behavior by the challenging team. Although Jasmuheen was locked up, allowed no visitors and under camera surveillance with 24 hours of security guards, 60 Minutes insisted she sleep with the light on so the guards could easily see her every moment. She says “I must admit it was fascinating to be held in what felt like a POW camp with constantly changing rules, and I gained some wonderful insights! Particularly about the effects of carbon monoxide poisoning on the body when one isn’t drinking as I usually choose to do to combat pollution. This was something in which Wiley Brooks had done in-depth research, but I had not experienced before. This learning in itself was so valuable for our work!”
Again she wrote in her e-mail to 60 Minutes on the 22nd “ As you know, our discussion prior to reaching our contract, was for me to be in a place with plenty of fresh air and sunlight. You, yourself, told me how important this was, how your crew and yourself hated being in air-conditioning as it could be highly dehydrating. And as you know dehydration contributes to weight loss. Did you know that the Brisbane City Council statistically recorded that in 1995 over a 12 hour period, 84,000 cars crossed the Story bridge off Shafston Avenue, where we were staying? Did you know that poison from carbon monoxide and motor vehicle emission is the number one cause of death by poison in the USA?”
“To continue on this subject, when I asked you to ask to the doctor to bring me oxygen to treat the carbon monoxide and motor vehicle emission poison in my body, you said, “She was too busy in meetings all day” to bother. When I told the doctor of my headaches and the poison in my body on the second night she said, “That is just your body breaking down from lack of fluid.” My body was not toxic and I have previously gone for many days without fluid without any problem, and this was only day 2! This lack of understanding is dangerous and it is no wonder why more and more people now turn to alternative therapists for advice.” And then they reported that by day 2 ‘she was already experiencing difficulty” ; interesting comment considering the setup.
3. 60 MINUTES IGNORED JASMUHEEN’S REQUEST TO CONTINUE.....
At last in a healthy environment, at the beginning of day 5 Jasmuheen was happy to complete the final next two days even though her voice was dry from continually being interviewed and arguing about the changing rules of the challenge with the 60 Minute’s Producers. It is the normal practice of those doing this to enter into silence for the first 7 days. It is totally inadvisable to relocate as she was forced to do to protect her health, or to be spoken to constantly. It is also unacceptable to be sleep deprived or to be put in an environment of such pollution and toxicity. Even though 60 Minutes were advised daily that the way they were conducting the challenge was endangering her health, Jasmuheen’s body was still strong enough to continue and complete the challenge despite a few days setback and abnormal lose of weight as her body fought the poisoning and adjusted to the lack of sleep.
4. 60 MINUTES IGNORED THE ORIGINAL AGREEMENTS TO PROVIDE JASMUHEEN WITH A ‘FRESH AIR ENVIRONMENT’....
It is also the normal practice of those doing this, to do it in an environment of clean fresh air which was what 60 Minutes had agreed to provide me with. As I repeatedly told 60 Minutes, ‘The Challenge’ has no resemblance to the 21 day sacred initiation, particularly the way that it was set up by their team. People who undergo the 21 day initiation create a sacred space similar to being in a Christian monastery, a Buddhist temple, or a Shaman in a forest, where they are very closely connected with the Divine. The way that ‘60 Minutes’ treated this last week was the absolute antithesis of all of that I have ever recommended. However, as you can see from the fact that I did not bother to put make-up on, or ‘dress up’ for that final evening, even though Richard was there, I was perfectly willing to have that image go out into the world to show that this is dangerous under these conditions. I too would like the public to be better informed and more sensible in their lifestyle choices yet far more people will die in road accidents, from alcohol and cigarette addiction than from learning to live on the light of the Divine.
And her parting words to the 60 Minutes team and Richard Carleton from the same letter : “Still I would like to thank you all for this amazing learning opportunity, particularly as I consciously broke all my own rules in allowing you to show how dangerous this may be when it is approached without correct preparation, and when surrounded by people who are untrained and unaware. As the good doctor said, she wishes the media would stop all the hype around my work, and so do I. I have told the media for years that if they are not prepared to tell the truth because some would rather sensationalize it for the sake of ratings or sale of copy, then to leave me alone. So may love, light and laughter be with you and the team, and may passion, purpose and honour fill your heart and soul.”
Jasmuheen
And to Richard Carleton, Jasmuheen says:
“What appears to be delusion to some is simply a preferable reality to another, for without our dreams and visions humanity has no hope. Divine revelations come to those who sincerely ask to have them, this is the nature of the Higher Laws of Science that some call Universal Law.
Only when humankind understands and applies these laws may peace, true unity and contentment reign permanently on earth.” Jasmuheen
While Jasmuheen is always happy to discuss her research with those sincerely interested, due to her contractual arrangements with 60 Minutes, she is unable to do media interviews in Australia until the 28th October.
